"Vianne, My Muse"
The
inspiration for the name “Vianne”
comes from Joanne Harris’ character
in
“Chocolat” ~ a woman who
blows into town, cares not what others think,
and
changes all for the better with understanding, a knowing smile, and
chocolate!
She is the personification of my Muse, the Guardian Angel of my
Creativity.
“Vianne,
my Muse” was created over a plastic soda bottle that was filled
with my
quilting scraps ~ those too small for any other use. She is layered
with
fabrics, trims, buttons, beads, parts of silk flowers, and mementos ~
all held
in place with Aleene’s Original Tacky Glue.
I
hand-drew Vianne’s face on deer-hide leather with Prismacolor markers,
then
coated it with Krylon Kamar spray for protection.
Her
cloak is created from a piece of the red velveteen curtains that used
to hang
in my parent’s bedroom. Her earring is a button featuring a rose,
matching the
rose on the front of the doll. The bone bead hanging from her earring
is from a
necklace I once made for myself of many favorite beads.
The
flower bouquet she is holding is from the favors at our wedding, and
tucked
inside as the paper is a wrapper from a Lindt Dark Chocolate ball from
the bag
of them that my sweetheart gave me for Valentine’s this year, and also
to tie
in the reference to “Chocolat”.
Her
wings are made from 3 layers of sheer fabrics, edged with hand-twisted
trim,
and embellished with gold thread, silk flower petals, and beads. They
peek out
from beneath her cloak – ready for when she needs to fly!
She
is 12” tall.
These One of a Kind Art
Dolls have been
created from the
many scraps that Waltzing Dog Art
Quilts generate,
pieces of silk flowers, and also from my delightful pack-rat-ish stash
of wonderful trims, beads, odds & ends!
